little road trip this past weekend. we rented a car and made our way to the beautiful firenze on saturday morning. despite the rain, seeing the city in action for the holidays was quite special. with lights on almost every street, it was hard not to feel the christmas spirit. a quick walk through the leather market, piazza duomo, piazza della repubblica, il porcellino, piazza della signoria, and of course, ponte vecchio, helped us work up our appetite for trattoria 13 gobbi. we enjoyed the BEST rigatoni in the world, stopped by the dive bar “one eyed jack” for some affordable cocktails, and then headed out to “full-up” for some struttin of the stuff.
we ended the trip on sunday with a stroll through the leather market, and a quick panini at “i due fratellini”.
overall, a great weekend and a nice change of scenery from milano. if you’re planning a trip to florence, let us know and we will send you our fave spots!
it’s the weekend again and that means it’s time for a little extra outfit inspiration. Currently in the mood for low-maitenance, casual-yet-chic looks.
unlike city guides is a website we found when coming to Milano that features hip places to check out in various cities. It breaks down cities into categories such as: food, shop, after dark, culture and hotel. They also feature several other cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Miami, Vienna and so forth. Check out the site here: unlike.net
finally made it out to the exhibit. through the cold and the rain, we found ourselves in the magic of the “dior as seen by exhibit”. amongst the creative handbags and the impressive and edgy images, was an ambiance we initially expected from milan – cool, trendy, chic.
my favourite part of the exhibit was entering the dark screening room, where you were able to see shots of celebrities carrying the dior handbags, and more importantly, the short film clips starring marion cotillard.
simply entertaining. if you are ever in milan, we are 100% that you would love the exhibit.
last night we checked out an event called “mtv brand new art,” it was held at the cubo e galleria – a pretty cool space. the exhibition included large scale photographs of famous music artists and several different dj’s. some of the music was a bit too hardcore for me, but it was great fun to dance around in the open space all the same.
a little late…but here are the outfits we wore friday evening to a party called PWP (punks wear prada).
